Which should you choose, Lumx or Avenia?
Choose Lumx if your customers need a bank account, not a payment instruction. A Mexican exporter puts a CLABE on an invoice and expects it to work next month; Avenia's CLABE lives as long as the ticket. A Brazilian marketplace puts agência and conta on an invoice; Avenia's BRL side is a static BR code. A Colombian payroll run needs one standing COP account behind PSE and Bre-B; Avenia returns instructions per payment. A neobank holds USDC for users; Lumx custodies it per customer in production. A UK corridor needs Faster Payments; Avenia has no GBP.
Choose Avenia if the BRL stablecoin is the point. BRLA is over-collateralized, attested monthly, and moves across Polygon, Celo, Ethereum, Base, Gnosis and Moonbeam. Avenia's ticket model is simple and well documented, its sandbox has deposit simulators per currency, and Argentina is live today where Lumx has it announced for Q3/2026. For a treasury or trading product that wants exposure to a BRL token, Avenia is that product.
Both companies are Brazilian VASPs in authorization under the same Central Bank resolutions, so do not pick on licenses. Pick on custody, accounts and rails.
What is Avenia?
Avenia, formerly BRLA Digital, is a stablecoin infrastructure company founded in 2022 in Brazil by ITA graduates with Nubank, BTG Pactual and Coinbase backgrounds. It issues BRLA, a BRL-pegged stablecoin with monthly third-party attestations and over-collateralized reserves, and runs a quote-and-ticket API that converts between BRLA, USDC, USDT and EURC and six fiat currencies: BRL (PIX), MXN (SPEI), COP (PSE and Bre-B), ARS (bank transfers), EUR (SEPA) and USD (bank transfer and SWIFT). The API documents KYC and KYB per currency, subaccounts, webhooks and a sandbox at api.sandbox.avenia.io with per-currency deposit simulators. BRLA Digital LTDA operates as a foreign exchange banking correspondent of Ouribank under CMN Resolution 4,935. Avenia raised a $17M Series A led by Quona Capital in February 2026.
What is Lumx?
Lumx is stablecoin payments infrastructure for businesses that move money between Latin America and the rest of the world: one API to collect, hold, convert, and pay out in BRL, MXN, COP, USD, EUR, and GBP or in USDC and USDT, over local rails such as PIX, SPEI, PSE, ACH, FEDWIRE, SEPA, and Faster Payments, with SWIFT and on-behalf-of payments and collections (POBO and COBO) in USD, EUR, and GBP, plus named virtual accounts, custodial wallets, and KYB/KYC built in.
Lumx was founded in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro and is backed by BTG Pactual, the largest investment bank in Latin America. Custodial wallets run in production, segregated per customer, on Ethereum, Polygon, Base and Tron, with Stellar for USDC on-ramps in BRL. In Brazil, Lumx SPSAV Ltda operates under Article 88 of Central Bank Resolution 520/2025; in the US, Lumx US OP LLC is a FinCEN-registered MSB (#31000316459619). Lumx processes more than $2B in annualized payment volume (as of September 2026). Customers include Nomad, Logcomex and Conta Simples.
How do Lumx and Avenia compare?
Model. Both settle cross-border payments in stablecoins over local rails, and in 2026 the overlap grew: both run PIX, SPEI, PSE and Bre-B, both touch USD and EUR, both ship a sandbox and webhooks. Avenia's unit is the ticket: quote a conversion between two assets, receive per-payment deposit instructions, deliver to a registered destination, with BRLA as the settlement asset. Lumx's unit is the account: a customer gets named bank details in each currency and a custodial wallet, and collections, holds, conversions and payouts happen against that account. Inside each country the rails differ. Brazil: both run PIX; Lumx settles it into a named account with agência and conta, Avenia into a static BR code. Mexico: both run SPEI; Lumx issues a persistent named CLABE, Avenia a CLABE per ticket. Colombia: both run PSE and Bre-B, and both live under the Banco de la República cap on Bre-B of 1,000 UVB per transaction (about COP 12.1 million, roughly USD 2,870), so larger amounts go over PSE on either platform; Avenia expresses that cap as 3,000 USDC per leg. Lumx adds a named COP account. Argentina: Avenia runs ARS bank transfers today; Lumx has ARS announced for Q3/2026. US and Europe: Lumx runs ACH, FEDWIRE and SEPA with named USD and EUR accounts and collects into them; Avenia documents USD bank transfer and SEPA as payout destinations. UK: Lumx runs Faster Payments with named GBP accounts; Avenia has no GBP. SWIFT: both in USD; Lumx adds POBO and COBO in USD, EUR and GBP over the local rails.
Custody. Lumx holds customer balances in custodial wallets segregated per customer, in production, on Ethereum, Polygon, Base and Tron, with real-time USDC and USDT balances and payouts from those balances over any rail. Avenia holds balances in BRLA, USDC, USDT or EURC inside the main account and its subaccounts and pays out to external wallets on Polygon, Celo, Ethereum, Base, Gnosis and Moonbeam. Its ledger is stablecoin-native by design and BRLA is the settlement asset. If your users keep a balance and you need per-customer segregation with an SLA, that is Lumx's product; if you want exposure to a BRL stablecoin as such, that is Avenia's.
Pricing and compliance. Neither publishes plans. Lumx charges a monthly platform fee plus usage-based per-transaction and virtual account fees, with transparent FX on locked quotes and no pre-funding; plans are not published, so contact sales. Avenia prices each ticket at a fixed rate with the conversion fee inside; the lock duration is not published, and the company also earns on reserve float. On compliance the two are peers in Brazil: both operate under the Central Bank's VASP framework (Resolutions 519, 520 and 521 of 2025) while authorization is processed — Avenia as an FX correspondent of Ouribank under CMN Resolution 4,935, Lumx under Article 88 of Resolution 520/2025 — and both integrate Sumsub, Lumx with token sharing for instant approvals. Lumx runs KYT with Chainalysis on-chain monitoring, holds a FinCEN-registered MSB in the US and models purpose codes and third-party relationship types. Avenia adds monthly BRLA reserve attestations.
When is Lumx the better fit?
Your users hold a balance today. Custodial wallets in production, per customer, on four chains, with payouts straight from the balance. See USDC to BRL and USDT to BRL.
Your customers invoice on local bank details. Named accounts in BRL (agência and conta), MXN (CLABE), COP, USD (routing and account), EUR (IBAN) and GBP (sort code and account). Avenia returns per-payment instructions and has no US, EUR or GBP account. See USDC to USD and USDC to EUR.
You collect COP into one account. PSE and Bre-B behind a named COP account, with amounts above the Banco de la República's Bre-B cap routed over PSE. Avenia returns instructions per payment.
You collect in Brazil on a named account. PIX into agência and conta in the customer's name. See BRL to USDC.
You collect in Mexico on a standing CLABE. See USDC to MXN and MXN to USDC.
You run the UK or need POBO and COBO. Faster Payments with named GBP accounts, and on-behalf-of payments and collections in USD, EUR and GBP.
Where does Avenia fit?
BRLA. A BRL-pegged, over-collateralized stablecoin with monthly attestations, moving on six chains. Lumx does not issue a token.
Argentina. ARS bank transfers live today, with source-account registration and a sandbox simulator. Lumx has ARS announced for Q3/2026.
EURC and more chains. Avenia moves BRLA, USDC, USDT and EURC across Polygon, Celo, Ethereum, Base, Gnosis and Moonbeam. Lumx settles USDC and USDT on Ethereum, Polygon, Base and Tron, plus Stellar for BRL on-ramps.
Ticket simplicity. One quote-and-ticket flow for every conversion, with an interactive Integration Builder and deposit simulators for ARS, COP, MXN and USD in the sandbox.
Subaccounts. Fund segregation under a main account for a stablecoin-first product that does not need bank details in the customer's name.
Can you use Lumx and Avenia together?
Yes. A team that wants BRLA exposure or Argentina keeps Avenia for those flows and runs Lumx for custody, named accounts and the UK. Both settle USDC on Ethereum, Polygon and Base, so a balance moves between them on-chain. Both expose webhooks and a sandbox, so the operational model is the same on each side.
How do you migrate from Avenia to Lumx?
Map Avenia accounts and subaccounts to Lumx customers. Both run KYC for individuals and KYB for businesses. Lumx adds a holder relationship (SUPPLIER, EMPLOYEE, SUBSIDIARY and others) on third-party destinations and a purpose code on each payment.
Open a sandbox at dashboard.lumx.io. New accounts start in a sandbox with mock banking partners; magic numbers on taxId force approved, rejected or pending verification.
Replace per-payment instructions with named accounts. Customers who received on a per-ticket CLABE, BR code or PSE flow get standing details in BRL, MXN, COP, USD, EUR and GBP.
Move balances out of BRLA and subaccounts. Convert BRLA to USDC or USDT on Avenia, then transfer on-chain to the customer's Lumx custodial wallet on Ethereum, Polygon or Base.
Swap tickets for locked quotes. Request a locked quote (30 s free, 1 or 5 minutes for a fee), show it, confirm inside the window. Keep floating quotes for display only.
Subscribe to webhooks and run parallel. Send Idempotency-Key on every mutation, reconcile both ledgers for one cycle, then move production traffic. Read the docs or talk to us.
Methodology and sources
This page reflects both companies' public documentation as of September 2026. Avenia facts come from its homepage and integration guide — bank accounts for MXN and COP, subaccounts, operation combinations, webhook events, environments and the Integration Builder, fetched on 16 September 2026. Avenia's Bre-B limit of 3,000 USDC per leg is from its COP bank account guide; the underlying cap is the Banco de la República's 1,000 UVB per transaction, which applies to every provider including Lumx. Lumx facts come from docs.lumx.io and the verified-facts register maintained by the Lumx team. Where Avenia does not document a capability, this page says so rather than that it does not exist. Regulation in Brazil is symmetric: both operate under the same Central Bank framework, both in authorization. Pricing on both sides is contract-specific. Spot an error? Tell us.

FAQ
Is Lumx a replacement for Avenia?
For payments over PIX, SPEI, PSE, Bre-B, SEPA and SWIFT in USD, yes, and Lumx adds production custody, named accounts in six currencies and Faster Payments. It does not replace Avenia for BRLA exposure or for Argentina, which Lumx has announced for Q3/2026.
Can you use Lumx and Avenia together?
Yes. Keep Avenia for BRLA and Argentina; run Lumx for custody, named accounts, large-ticket COP, Brazil beyond PIX and the UK. Both settle USDC on Ethereum, Polygon and Base, so balances move between them on-chain without an FX leg.
Which is cheaper, Lumx or Avenia?
Neither publishes pricing. Avenia prices each ticket at a fixed rate with the conversion fee inside, and earns on BRLA reserve float. Lumx returns a locked quote with the spread visible before you confirm and gas included. Ask both for a quote on your corridor and volume.
How long does it take to migrate from Avenia to Lumx?
Integration starts the day you sign up, since Lumx accounts open in a sandbox with mock partners and magic numbers. Production follows a call and KYB. Tickets map to quotes and payouts, subaccounts to customers, and the main data-model work is adding purpose codes and relationship types.
Does Avenia support Colombia?
Yes. Avenia's API documents PSE and Bre-B for COP, with Bre-B limited to 3,000 USDC per leg and larger amounts routed through PSE. Lumx also runs PSE and Bre-B, under the same Banco de la República cap of 1,000 UVB per Bre-B transaction, and adds a named COP account.
Does Avenia issue named virtual accounts?
No. Avenia's API returns per-payment deposit instructions (a static BR code, a CLABE per ticket, PSE and Bre-B flows) and uses subaccounts to segregate funds; there is no standing bank account in the customer's name. Lumx issues named virtual accounts in BRL, MXN, COP, USD, EUR and GBP.
