Licenses by market
Lumx provides the technology layer: the API, the dashboard, onboarding, routing and monitoring. Where Lumx does not hold its own license or registration, the regulated activities behind it, including money transmission, currency conversion and settlement, are performed by licensed partners in their own name and under their own licenses. When a customer transacts, it also becomes a customer of the partner that performs that leg, under the partner’s terms. Virtual assets are held by BitGo, a third-party custodian contracted by Lumx.

Frequently asked questions
Is Lumx regulated?
Yes, in two jurisdictions. Lumx US OP LLC is a FinCEN-registered money services business, and the Brazilian entity filed for SPSAV authorization with the Central Bank of Brazil on October 27, 2026 and operates under the transition rules of BCB Resolution 520/2025. Regulated payment activities run through licensed partners.
Is Lumx a bank?
No. Lumx is not a bank, a financial institution or a payment institution, and balances held through Lumx are not covered by Brazil's deposit guarantee fund (FGC).
Who holds the assets?
Virtual assets are held by BitGo, a third-party custodian contracted by Lumx. Each customer has its own wallets, with no omnibus account: balances are not pooled with other customers' or with Lumx's own. A stablecoin balance is not a deposit, because Lumx is not a bank. Fiat legs are held and moved by the licensed partner for each currency.
What changes with BCB Resolution 520/2025?
The resolution created the SPSAV authorization for virtual asset service providers in Brazil. Companies already operating had until October 30, 2026 to file, and keep operating while the Central Bank reviews the request. Lumx filed on October 27, 2026. The same rules apply to every Brazilian provider in this position.
Where does Lumx not hold a license?
Lumx holds no license of its own in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Mexico or Colombia. Payments in EUR, GBP, MXN and COP run through licensed local partners.
