Which should you choose, Lumx or Bridge?
Choose Lumx if your product is payments. A PSP collecting from Brazilian merchants needs a BRL account with agência and conta that a counterparty can pay from any bank, not only a PIX QR code. A payroll platform paying contractors in Colombia wants PSE and Bre-B behind one COP account. A treasury team wiring USD to a supplier in Vietnam needs SWIFT. A remittance app needs to show the customer the exact BRL amount before they tap send, which means a locked quote. Lumx has each of these in production today, in one API, with KYB/KYC, purpose codes and relationship types already modeled.
Choose Bridge if your product is a stablecoin or a card. Open Issuance lets Klarna, Phantom and others run branded dollars with reserves at BlackRock and Fidelity. Stripe Issuing turns a stablecoin balance into a Visa card. Nineteen chains and tokens such as PYUSD, EURC, USDG and USDB give a crypto-native app more surface than any LATAM-first provider. Bridge's regulatory footprint in the US and EU (32+ MTLs, OCC conditional charter, MiCA and EMI) is also broader than Lumx's.
If you are a LATAM fintech with a Stripe relationship, the honest answer is that you can run Bridge for cards and issuance and Lumx for local rails, and many teams will.
What is Bridge?
Bridge is a stablecoin infrastructure company founded in 2022 by Zach Abrams and Sean Yu and acquired by Stripe for $1.1 billion in a deal that closed on 4 February 2025. Its orchestration API converts between USD, EUR, MXN, BRL, GBP, COP and stablecoins over ACH, ACH Same Day, FedNow, Wire, SEPA, SPEI, Pix, Faster Payments and Bre-B. It issues USDB, its own stablecoin backed by cash and money market funds at BlackRock, and runs Open Issuance for branded stablecoins such as KlarnaUSD, CASH and USDH. Since April 2026 its stablecoin-backed cards are integrated with Stripe Issuing. Bridge settles on about 19 blockchains, including Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Solana, Arbitrum, Stellar, Tron, Tempo, Sui and Aptos, with USDC, USDT, USDB, PYUSD, EURC, USDP, USDG and chain-specific tokens. It is a FinCEN-registered MSB with money transmitter licenses in 32+ US states, a conditional OCC national trust bank approval (February 2026) and MiCA and EMI authorisations across the 27 EU member states (July 2026). Customers include SpaceX, Coinbase, Payoneer, Klarna, Phantom and MetaMask.
What is Lumx?
Lumx is stablecoin payments infrastructure for businesses that move money between Latin America and the rest of the world: one API to collect, hold, convert, and pay out in BRL, MXN, COP, USD, EUR, and GBP or in USDC and USDT, over local rails such as PIX, SPEI, PSE, ACH, FEDWIRE, SEPA, and Faster Payments, with SWIFT and on-behalf-of payments and collections (POBO and COBO) in USD, EUR, and GBP, plus named virtual accounts, custodial wallets, and KYB/KYC built in.
Lumx was founded in 2022 in Rio de Janeiro and is backed by BTG Pactual, the largest investment bank in Latin America. Custodial wallets run in production, segregated per customer, on Ethereum, Polygon, Base and Tron, with Stellar for USDC on-ramps in BRL. In Brazil, Lumx SPSAV Ltda operates under Article 88 of Central Bank Resolution 520/2025; in the US, Lumx US OP LLC is a FinCEN-registered MSB (#31000316459619). Lumx processes more than $2B in annualized payment volume (as of September 2026). Customers include Nomad, Logcomex and Conta Simples.
How do Lumx and Bridge compare?
Model. Both are API-first and both sell a fiat-to-stablecoin-to-fiat loop with KYB/KYC included. Bridge is a platform with five products, of which payments orchestration is one; issuance, USDB, cards and wallets carry equal weight in its docs and blog. Lumx is a payments company that uses stablecoins as the settlement layer and exposes the fiat side as the product: named accounts, local rails, purpose codes, relationship types, POBO and COBO. That shows in the rails. Bridge's Brazil is PIX to a BR Code; Lumx's Brazil is PIX to a named account with agência and conta. Bridge's Colombia is Bre-B and bank transfer; Lumx's is PSE and Bre-B. Bridge has no SWIFT anywhere in its docs; Lumx runs USD wires over SWIFT with POBO and COBO. Bridge, in turn, has FedNow and ACH Same Day in the US, which Lumx does not.
Custody and accounts. Both are custodial. Bridge provisions wallets with gas management across its 19 chains and adds liquidation addresses that auto-convert incoming crypto to fiat. Lumx runs segregated custodial wallets per customer on four chains with real-time USDC and USDT balances, and pays out from those balances over any rail. Both issue virtual accounts in the same six currencies, in the customer's name. The BRL account differs: Bridge returns a PIX BR Code, Lumx returns agência and conta in the customer's name. USD, EUR (USDC to EUR), MXN, GBP and COP details are equivalent (routing and account, IBAN, CLABE, sort code and account, Bre-B account number).
Pricing and compliance. Neither publishes plans. Bridge charges an FX spread of up to 1% on top of the exchange rate, passes gas through at cost and lets you add developer fees settled monthly; its rates are estimates refreshed about every 30 seconds and cannot be locked. Lumx charges a monthly platform fee plus usage-based per-transaction and virtual account fees, with transparent FX on a locked quote (30 seconds free, one or five minutes for a fee) and no pre-funding. On compliance, both run KYB/KYC and KYT. Bridge's licensing is broader in the US and EU (MSB, 32+ MTLs, conditional OCC charter, MiCA and EMI). Lumx supports Sumsub token sharing for instant approvals, monitors on-chain activity with Chainalysis, operates under Article 88 of Central Bank Resolution 520/2025 while its VASP authorization is processed, and is a FinCEN-registered MSB in the US, modeling purpose codes and third-party relationship types that Brazilian and Mexican reporting demands.
When is Lumx the better fit?
You collect in Brazil on a named account. Lumx's BRL account carries agência and conta in the customer's name, so a counterparty pays it from any bank; Bridge's BRL account is a PIX BR Code. See USDC to BRL and BRL to USDC.
You pay out in Colombia over PSE. Lumx runs PSE and Bre-B behind a named COP account. Bridge runs Bre-B and bank transfer.
You need USD wires to countries with no local rail. Lumx sends USD over SWIFT, with POBO and COBO. Bridge does not document SWIFT.
You quote a price to an end user. A remittance or payroll flow that shows the recipient amount before executing needs a locked rate. Lumx locks for 30 seconds free or up to 5 minutes for a fee. Bridge's rate is an estimate.
You settle Mexico or the US from a stablecoin balance. See USDC to MXN, USDT to MXN and USDC to USD.
You want to start in the sandbox today. Lumx accounts open in a sandbox on sign-up at dashboard.lumx.io, with mock banking partners and magic numbers on taxId to force outcomes. Bridge issues developer sandbox keys through support@bridge.xyz and requires a contract and KYB before production.
Where does Bridge fit?
Bridge does several things Lumx does not do, and this page should say so plainly.
Stablecoin issuance. Open Issuance launches a branded stablecoin with reserves at BlackRock, Fidelity or Superstate, 1:1 swappable with every other Open Issuance coin. Lumx does not issue stablecoins.
USDB. A yield-bearing infrastructure stablecoin, free to convert to and from other stablecoins.
Cards. Stablecoin-backed Visa cards, integrated with Stripe Issuing since April 2026, live in 18 countries including Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.
Chains and tokens. About 19 chains and 11 tokens, including Solana, Stellar, Arbitrum, Tempo, Sui, Aptos, PYUSD, EURC and USDG. Lumx settles USDC and USDT on Ethereum, Polygon, Base and Tron, plus Stellar for BRL on-ramps.
US and EU licensing depth. 32+ state MTLs, a conditional OCC charter and MiCA/EMI passporting across the EU.
FedNow and ACH Same Day. Instant and same-day USD rails Lumx does not run.
Stripe. If you already process cards with Stripe, Bridge is inside the same contract.
Can you use Lumx and Bridge together?
Yes, and the split is clean. Bridge holds issuance, cards and multi-chain treasury; Lumx holds the fiat legs in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and the UK where you need PSE, Faster Payments with a named account, a BRL account with bank details, SWIFT in USD or a locked quote. Both settle in USDC on Ethereum, Polygon and Base, so moving a balance between them is an on-chain transfer, not an FX event. Both send webhooks on status changes, so the reconciliation model is the same on each side.
How do you migrate from Bridge to Lumx?
Map your Bridge customers to Lumx customers. Both require KYB for businesses and KYC for individuals. Lumx adds a holder relationship (SUPPLIER, EMPLOYEE, SUBSIDIARY and others) on third-party destinations and a purpose code on each payment; collect those fields up front.
Open a sandbox at dashboard.lumx.io. New accounts start in sandbox with mock banking partners. Use magic numbers on taxId to simulate approved, rejected and pending verification.
Replace Bridge virtual accounts with Lumx named accounts. Same six currencies. For BRL, your customers gain agência and conta in their own name instead of a BR Code.
Swap estimate-then-transfer for quote-then-confirm. Request a locked quote (30 s free, 1 or 5 minutes for a fee), show it, confirm within the window. Keep floating quotes only for display.
Re-point destinations. Bridge external accounts become Lumx destinations. PIX keys, CLABEs, IBANs, sort codes and Bre-B account numbers carry over; SWIFT destinations are new capacity.
Subscribe to webhooks and run parallel. Send Idempotency-Key on every mutation, reconcile the two ledgers for one cycle, then move production traffic. Read the docs or talk to us.
Methodology and sources
This page reflects both companies' public documentation as of September 2026. Bridge facts come from apidocs.bridge.xyz (payment routes, virtual accounts, exchange rates, sandbox, idempotency, llms.txt), bridge.xyz and its blog (OCC conditional approval, 17 Feb 2026; Stripe Issuing cards, 29 Apr 2026; MiCA and EMI, 2 Jul 2026), and our March 2026 research notes for company history, funding and customers, which were not re-verified in September. Lumx facts come from docs.lumx.io and the verified-facts register maintained by the Lumx team. Where Bridge does not document a capability, this page says it is not documented rather than that it does not exist. Country counts use each company's published onboarding lists; Bridge's tiers (150+ non-high-risk, 32 restricted, 10 controlled, 20 prohibited) are from March 2026. Pricing on both sides is contract-specific. Spot an error? Tell us.

FAQ
Is Lumx a replacement for Bridge?
For payments, yes. Lumx covers the same six fiat currencies with named accounts and adds PSE, SWIFT in USD, a BRL account with bank details and locked quotes that Bridge does not have. For stablecoin issuance, USDB or Visa cards, no: Lumx does not offer those, and a team that needs them keeps Bridge for that layer.
Can you use Lumx and Bridge together?
Yes. Run Bridge for issuance, cards and multi-chain treasury, and Lumx for local rails in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, the US, the eurozone and the UK. Both settle USDC on Ethereum, Polygon and Base, so balances move between them on-chain without an FX leg.
Which is cheaper, Lumx or Bridge?
Neither publishes plans, so compare on mechanics. Bridge charges an FX spread of up to 1% plus gas at cost, on a rate that refreshes every 30 seconds and cannot be locked. Lumx charges a monthly platform fee plus usage-based per-transaction and virtual account fees, with transparent FX on locked quotes and no pre-funding. Ask both for a quote on your corridor and volume.
How long does it take to migrate from Bridge to Lumx?
Lumx accounts open in a sandbox on sign-up, so integration work starts the same day. Production access follows a call and KYB. The migration steps above map one-to-one onto Bridge concepts (customers, virtual accounts, external accounts, transfers), and most of the effort is adding purpose codes and relationship types to your data model.
Does Bridge support SWIFT?
Not in its public documentation. Bridge's supported rails as of September 2026 are ACH, ACH Same Day, FedNow, Wire, SEPA, SPEI, Pix, Faster Payments and Bre-B. Lumx sends USD over SWIFT, with POBO and COBO, for countries where no local rail exists.
Does Bridge lock exchange rates?
No. Bridge's docs state that it does not offer a quote that locks a rate; its exchange-rate endpoint returns an estimate updated about every 30 seconds. Lumx locks a quote for 30 seconds at no fee, or for one or five minutes for a fee, and shows the spread before you confirm.
