About Vero Finance

Vero Finance provides financial infrastructure for foreign trade, serving small and mid-sized Brazilian importers and exporters. Its clients live and die by their ability to pay suppliers abroad, receive from international buyers, and hold balances in hard currency. For most of them, the hardest part of going global was never finding a customer overseas. It was getting a bank account that lets them do business with one.

The challenge

Opening a foreign-currency account through traditional channels is built for large corporations, not SMBs. The process typically demands apostilled documentation, sworn translations, and extensive KYC reviews conducted in a foreign language, with foreign banks that have little incentive to prioritize a small Brazilian trading company. The result is a process that can stall for weeks, and often simply dies along the way.

This is not an edge case. Most Brazilian SMBs point to access to international banking infrastructure as a real obstacle to operating globally. For Vero, that barrier sat directly between its product and its customers: every week a client waited for an account was a week of import and export flows Vero could not serve. Building that banking layer in-house would have meant foreign licensing, correspondent relationships, and a compliance operation far from its core business. The strategic question was clear. How could Vero give every SMB client a global account without becoming a bank abroad?

How Lumx solved it

Vero integrated Lumx to power the global account at the center of its product. Through a single integration, each Vero client gets access to accounts in currencies such as USD and EUR, with onboarding that runs digitally instead of through apostilles, sworn translations, and branch-level bureaucracy.

Lumx absorbs the regulatory and operational complexity behind the account: the banking relationships, the compliance and KYC/KYB flows, and the cross-border payment rails. Vero keeps what makes it valuable, the relationship with the importer or exporter, the product experience, and the roadmap. The client sees Vero; the infrastructure works in the background.

Results

Account opening that traditionally dragged on for weeks now completes in days. For a small importer or exporter, that difference is not administrative, it is commercial: it is the gap between closing a deal with an international counterparty and losing it while the paperwork sits in a queue.

More broadly, Vero turned a structural barrier into its product's front door. SMBs that were effectively excluded from global banking now hold USD and EUR accounts and transact internationally with the same simplicity they expect from domestic fintech. That access is the foundation on which every other Vero service, payments, receivables, and FX, gets built.

Key takeaways

The biggest constraint on Brazilian SMBs going global is not demand, it is infrastructure. By plugging into Lumx instead of building banking relationships abroad, Vero collapsed weeks of bureaucracy into days and made global accounts a feature of its product rather than a prerequisite its clients had to conquer alone. It is a repeatable pattern for any platform serving businesses whose growth is capped by access to international banking infrastructure.
